EC 2.1.1.231                Enzyme

Name
flavonoid 4'-O-methyltransferase;
SOMT-2;
4'-hydroxyisoflavone methyltransferase
Class
Transferases;
Transferring one-carbon groups;
Methyltransferases
BRITE hierarchy
Sysname
S-adenosyl-L-methionine:flavonoid 4'-O-methyltransferase
Reaction(IUBMB)
S-adenosyl-L-methionine + a 4'-hydroxyflavanone = S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine + a 4'-methoxyflavanone [RN:R09792]
Reaction(KEGG)
Substrate
S-adenosyl-L-methionine [CPD:C00019];
4'-hydroxyflavanone [CPD:C19896]
Product
S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine [CPD:C00021];
4'-methoxyflavanone [CPD:C19895]
Comment
The enzyme catalyses the 4'-methylation of naringenin. In vitro it catalyses the 4'-methylation of apigenin, quercetin, daidzein and genistein.
