Involved in the biosynthesis of kanamycin B and kanamycin C. Also catalyses EC 2.4.1.283, 2-deoxystreptamine N-acetyl-D-glucosaminyltransferase, but activity is only one fifth of that with UDP-alpha-D-glucose.
