Entry
EC 3.2.1.32                 Enzyme

Name
endo-1,3-beta-xylanase;
xylanase (ambiguous);
endo-1,3-beta-xylosidase (misleading);
1,3-beta-xylanase;
1,3-xylanase;
beta-1,3-xylanase;
endo-beta-1,3-xylanase;
1,3-beta-D-xylan xylanohydrolase;
xylan endo-1,3-beta-xylosidase
Class
Hydrolases;
Glycosylases;
Glycosidases, i.e. enzymes that hydrolyse O- and S-glycosyl compounds
BRITE hierarchy
Sysname
3-beta-D-xylan xylanohydrolase
Reaction(IUBMB)
Random endohydrolysis of (1->3)-beta-D-glycosidic linkages in (1->3)-beta-D-xylans
Comment
This enzyme is found mostly in marine bacteria, which break down the beta(1,3)-xylan found in the cell wall of some green and red algae. The enzyme produces mainly xylobiose, xylotriose and xylotetraose.
