#=GF CC   Fve is a major fruiting body protein from Flammulina velutipes,
#=GF CC   a mushroom possessing immunomodulatory activity. It stimulates
#=GF CC   lymphocyte mitogenesis, suppresses systemic anaphylaxis
#=GF CC   reactions and oedema, enhances transcription of IL-2, IFN-gamma
#=GF CC   and TNF-alpha, and haemagglutinates red blood cells. It appears
#=GF CC   to be a lectin with specificity for complex cell-surface
#=GF CC   carbohydrates. Fve adopts a tertiary structure consisting of an
#=GF CC   immunoglobulin-like beta-sandwich, with seven strands arranged
#=GF CC   in two beta sheets, in a Greek-key topology. It forms a
#=GF CC   non-covalently linked homodimer containing no Cys, His or Met
#=GF CC   residues; dimerisation occurs by 3-D domain swapping of the
#=GF CC   N-terminal helices and is stabilised predominantly by
#=GF CC   hydrophobic interactions [1].
