CC -!- FUNCTION: Pattern receptor that binds to murein peptidoglycans
CC (PGN) of Gram-positive bacteria. Has bactericidal activity towards
CC Gram-positive bacteria. May kill Gram-positive bacteria by
CC interfering with peptidoglycan biosynthesis. Binds also to Gram-
CC negative bacteria, and has bacteriostatic activity towards Gram-
CC negative bacteria. Plays a role in innate immunity (By
