Comment | Strictly aerobic mesophile. Grows as a facultative chemolithoautotroph, a heterotroph, or methylotroph. Grows on various inorganic sulfur compounds and several C1-compounds such as methanol. Capable of both consuming carbon dioxide and producing it. Isolated from soil samples taken from agricultural land in New Jersey by Robert L. Starkey in the early 1930s.
