KEGG   ENZYME: 1.14.19.40
Entry
EC 1.14.19.40               Enzyme
Name
hex-5-enoyl-[acyl-carrier protein] acetylenase;
jamB (gene name)
Class
Oxidoreductases;
Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen;
With oxidation of a pair of donors resulting in the reduction of O2 to two molecules of water
Sysname
hex-5-enoyl-[acyl-carrier protein],reduced ferredoxin:oxygen oxidoreductase (5,6-dehydrogenating)
Reaction(IUBMB)
hex-5-enoyl-[acyl-carrier protein] + 2 reduced ferredoxin [iron-sulfur] cluster + O2 + 2 H+ = hex-5-ynoyl-[acyl-carrier protein] + 2 oxidized ferredoxin [iron-sulfur] cluster + 2 H2O
Substrate
hex-5-enoyl-[acyl-carrier protein];
reduced ferredoxin [iron-sulfur] cluster [CPD:C00138];
O2 [CPD:C00007];
H+ [CPD:C00080]
Product
hex-5-ynoyl-[acyl-carrier protein];
oxidized ferredoxin [iron-sulfur] cluster [CPD:C00139];
H2O [CPD:C00001]
Comment
The enzyme, characterized from the marine cyanobacterium Moorea producens, is involved in production of the ion channel blocker jamaicamide A. It is specific for hexanoate or hex-5-enoate loaded onto a dedicated acyl-carrier protein (JamC), which is encoded by a gene in the same operon.
