KEGG   ENZYME: 2.5.1.38
Entry
EC 2.5.1.38                 Enzyme
Name
isonocardicin synthase;
nocardicin aminocarboxypropyltransferase;
S-adenosyl-L-methionine:nocardicin-E 3-amino-3-carboxypropyltransferase
Class
Transferases;
Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups;
Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups (only sub-subclass identified to date)
Sysname
S-adenosyl-L-methionine:nocardicin-G 3-amino-3-carboxypropyltransferase
Reaction(IUBMB)
S-adenosyl-L-methionine + nocardicin G = S-methyl-5'-thioadenosine + isonocardicin C [RN:R10881]
Reaction(KEGG)
R10881;
(other) R03072
Substrate
S-adenosyl-L-methionine [CPD:C00019];
nocardicin G [CPD:C17355]
Product
S-methyl-5'-thioadenosine [CPD:C00170];
isonocardicin C [CPD:C17352]
Comment
The enzyme, characterized from the bacterium Nocardia uniformis, is involved in the biosynthesis of the beta-lactam antibiotic nocardicin A. The enzyme can act on nocardicin E, F, and G, producing isonocardicin A, B, and C, respectively. However, the in vivo substrate is believed to be nocardicin G [3].
