Entry
Name
kojibiose hydrolase;
kojibiase
Class
Hydrolases;
Glycosylases;
Glycosidases, i.e. enzymes that hydrolyse O- and S-glycosyl compounds
BRITE hierarchy
Sysname
kojibiose glucohydrolase (configuration-inverting)
Reaction(IUBMB)
kojibiose + H2O = beta-D-glucopyranose + D-glucopyranose [RN:
R12983 ]
Reaction(KEGG)
Substrate
Product
beta-D-glucopyranose [CPD:
C00221 ];
D-glucopyranose [CPD:
C00031 ]
Comment
The enzyme, characterized from the bacteria Flavobacterium johnsoniae and Mucilaginibacter mallensis, uses anomer-inverting mechanism to release beta-glucose from the non-reducing ends of kojibiose and alpha-1,2-oligoglucans with a higher degree of polymerization.
