6.3.2.6, phosphoribosylaminoimidazolesuccinocarboxamide synthase, the reaction is reversible [3]. The substrate is readily converted into 5-amino-1-(5-phospho-D-ribosyl)imidazole by non-enzymic decarboxylation [3].
