KEGG   ENZYME: 7.4.2.5Help
Entry
EC 7.4.2.5                  Enzyme

Name
ABC-type protein transporter;
peptide-transporting ATPase (ambiguous)
Class
Translocases;
Catalysing the translocation of amino acids and peptides;
Linked to the hydrolysis of a nucleoside triphosphate
BRITE hierarchy
Sysname
ATP phosphohydrolase (ABC-type, peptide-exporting)
Reaction(IUBMB)
ATP + H2O + protein[side 1] = ADP + phosphate + protein[side 2]
Substrate
ATP [CPD:C00002];
H2O [CPD:C00001];
protein[side 1]
Product
ADP [CPD:C00008];
phosphate [CPD:C00009];
protein[side 2]
Comment
An ATP-binding cassette (ABC) type transporter, characterized by the presence of two similar ATP-binding domains/proteins and two integral membrane domains/proteins. Does not undergo phosphorylation during the transport process. This entry stands for a family of bacterial enzymes. Members of this family from Gram-negative bacteria were reported to export alpha-hemolysin, cyclolysin, colicin V and siderophores, while members from Gram-positive bacteria are known to export bacteriocin, subtilin, competence factor and pediocin.
