COMMENT REVIEWED REFSEQ: This record has been curated by NCBI staff. The
reference sequence was derived from BP222303.1, AK299077.1,
BX463316.2, AC015564.13 and BC056408.1.
Summary: This gene encodes a member of the collapsin response
mediator protein family. Collapsin response mediator proteins form
homo- and hetero-tetramers and facilitate neuron guidance, growth
and polarity. The encoded protein promotes microtubule assembly and
is required for Sema3A-mediated growth cone collapse, and also
plays a role in synaptic signaling through interactions with
calcium channels. This gene has been implicated in multiple
neurological disorders, and hyperphosphorylation of the encoded
protein may play a key role in the development of Alzheimer's
disease. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding
multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by
RefSeq, Sep 2011].
Transcript Variant: This variant (3) differs in the 5' UTR, lacks a
portion of the 5' coding region and initiates translation at a
downstream, in-frame start codon, compared to variant 1. The
encoded isoform (3) has a shorter N-terminus, compared to isoform
1.
Sequence Note: This RefSeq record was created from transcript and
genomic sequence data to make the sequence consistent with the
reference genome assembly. The genomic coordinates used for the
transcript record were based on transcript alignments.
Publication Note: This RefSeq record includes a subset of the
publications that are available for this gene. Please see the Gene
record to access additional publications.
