COMMENT REVIEWED REFSEQ: This record has been curated by NCBI staff. The
reference sequence was derived from AC161198.5.
On Feb 23, 2008 this sequence version replaced NP_034731.2.
Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is a voltage-gated
potassium channel alpha subunit predominantly expressed in the
forebrain. An increase in cognitive function was observed when this
gene was knocked out, while deletion of the gene resulted in
hippocampal hyperexcitability and epilepsy. [provided by RefSeq,
Sep 2015].
Sequence Note: The RefSeq transcript and protein were derived from
genomic sequence to make the sequence consistent with the reference
genome assembly. The genomic coordinates used for the transcript
record were based on alignments.
Publication Note: This RefSeq record includes a subset of the
publications that are available for this gene. Please see the Gene
record to access additional publications.
