COMMENT REVIEWED REFSEQ: This record has been curated by NCBI staff. The
reference sequence was derived from AL354836.13.
This sequence is a reference standard in the RefSeqGene project.
On Feb 13, 2003 this sequence version replaced NP_008933.1.
Summary: This gene encodes a member of the adhesion regulating
molecule 1 protein family. The encoded protein is a component of
the proteasome where it acts as a ubiquitin receptor and recruits
the deubiquitinating enzyme, ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase
L5. Increased levels of the encoded protein are associated with
increased cell adhesion, which is likely an indirect effect of this
intracellular protein. Dysregulation of this gene has been
implicated in carcinogenesis. Alternative splicing results in
multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013].
Transcript Variant: This variant (1) represents the longest
transcript and encodes the longer isoform (1). Variants 1 and 2
encode the same isoform.
Publication Note: This RefSeq record includes a subset of the
