KEGG GLYCAN Database Entry

Entry The KEGG GLYCAN database is a collection of glycan structures. Each entry is identified by the unique identifier called the G number ('G' followed by five-digit number). The database contains all unique structures in CarbBank, most structures that appear in KEGG pathways, and some new structures taken from literature.
Name The recommended name and alternative names of the glycan.
Composition The composition of monosaccharides.
Mass The mass computed from the composition, excluding those in parentheses.
Structure The molecular structure (carbohydrate sequence) of the glycan is stored in a KCF file shown below. A GIF image of the glycan structure is shown here, and it can be viewed in a separate window by clicking on the image.
Remark The same glycan in the COMPOUND database, if any, is shown. Monosaccharides and small oligosaccharides are registered in both the COMPOUND and GLYCAN databases.
Comment Text information commenting on the glycan.
Reaction Links to the REACTION database entries, where the glycan appears as a substrate or a product.
Pathway Liks to the KEGG pathway maps, where the corresponding glycan is marked in red.
Module KEGG modules (complete modules only) that contain this glycan entry. By clicking on the link, the corresponding circular object is marked red in the module map.
Enzyme Links to the ENZYME database entries, where the glycan appears as a substrate or a product.
Orthology Links to the KO database entries, which correspond to the reactions/enzymes above.
Brite This field contains compound classifications in the BRITE database. The "BRITE hierarchy" buttom may also be used to display these classifications.
Reference Refereces about this glycan.
Other DBs Links to outside databases, especially CarBank which is also known as CCSD (Complex Carbohydrate Structure Database). When the CCSD link is clicked all CarbBank entries with the same glycan structure will be displayed.
LinkDB 'All DBs' button in this field retrieves all available links to related database entries in the LinkDB system. At GenomeNet this field does not appear; instead a list of actual links is displayed on the right.
KCF data The KCF (KEGG Chemical Function) representation of the glycan structure can be displayed here.
