Update:
This is Version 1.1. Update log is recorded here.
Bac2Feature Web Service has been incorporated into GenomeNet.

Bac2Feature Web Service is a web-based computational service for Bac2Feature.
This service predicts 18 prokaryotic traits from 16S rRNA gene sequences fully online.

We integrate three representative methods for trait prediction and provide them with systematic evaluation for avoiding spurious predictions. See our paper for details.

Predicted traits by Bac2Feature

Currently, Bac2Feature Web Service provides predictions for 8 continuous and 10 categorical traits listed below. If you want to access all trait values without filtering (e.g., cell size), please use the stand-alone version.

  • Continous traits
    • Doubling time (log_10 hours)
    • Growth temperature (°C)
    • Optimum growth temperature (°C)
    • Genome size (base pairs)
    • GC content (%)
    • Coding genes (number)
    • rRNA 16S genes (number)
    • tRNA genes (number)
  • Categorical traits (All traits are predicted as yes (=1) / no (=0) format.)
    • Gram stain
    • Sporulation
    • Anaerobes
    • Motility
    • Temperature range
      • Mesophiles
      • Thermophiles
    • Cell shape
      • Bacillus
      • Coccus
      • Filament
      • Spiral
